Guiding Light Welcomes Sherwin Robinson to Board

Grand Rapids, Michigan, February 12, 2018 – Guiding Light has welcomed experienced healthcare professional Sherwin Robinson as its newest board member.
Robinson brings more than two decades of professional experience to the board of Guiding Light, which focuses its programming on recovery and re-engagement. Vice President and Chief Underwriter at Priority Health, Robinson is skilled in strategic planning, development and training, team bonding and relationship building, program development communications and competitive analysis.
He will serve a three-year term on the 13-person board dedicated to serving men struggling with addiction, homelessness and unemployment through rehabilitation and re-engagement programs. As a board member, Robinson will aid in the nonprofit’s decision-making and financial management to ensure a sustainable future.

In his role at Priority Health, Robinson manages the development of rates and execution of business strategies for one of the state’s leading health insurance companies. He is responsible for ensuring short-term and long-term growth and financial profitability.
Prior to joining Priority Health, Robinson worked at Anthem, BCBS in Manchester, New Hampshire as regional vice president of underwriting. He also served in roles of increasing responsibility at Health Net in Shelton, Connecticut, most recently as regional director of underwriting.
Robinson holds a bachelor of science in business management from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. He is a graduate of the Certified Healthcare Insurance Executive Program, or CHIE, and the Professional Academy for Healthcare Management, or PAHM, both in Washington, D.C.
He also serves on the board of the YWCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
A native of Waterbury, Connecticut, Robinson now resides in Ada with his wife, Maria and their border collie, Bentley. They have two children, Sherwin, Jr. and Chanel.
