Guiding Light offers men struggling with drug and alcohol addiction a four-month long comprehensive and proven substance abuse rehabilitation program. Because of your investment and our generous community, this rigorous program can be provided at no cost to clients. In November of 2022 alone, your giving empowered 57 men struggling with spiritual, emotional, and often physical brokenness to take action in living life a new way.
Because of you, Guiding Light’s innovative and personalized rehab program provides these men safety, opportunity, challenge, and HOPE. They start to realize they are valuable human beings, precious in God’s sight, and that it is possible to living live a meaningful, sober, connected life.
INVEST IN CHAZ
Chaz, an Indiana native, veteran, and now-recovering cocaine addict is a current client who can personally attest to the transformative work that takes place here. He came to Guiding Light over two months ago, after hitting rock bottom in active addiction and being worried about losing his two sons.
Chaz’s eldest son, 13 years old, had said to him, ‘I’d rather not have a dad than have one that’s going to be in-and-out. You going to be in or are you going to be out?” It was at that moment that he began looking up for somewhere he could go to get some help to change his life in a deep way.
While his family waits for him, Chaz is part of another family at Guiding Light, a community of men committed to living a different life of healthy relationships, sobriety, and financial stability.
“When you get here, it takes guys a minute. You’re skeptical because you’re not used to this kind of love, but once you start to embrace it, it is amazing. Everybody just gives in to it. I don’t think the donors and staff could possibly understand what they mean to us. It’s not every day you get this kind of grace. You don’t get this kind of mercy. You don’t get this kind of love. I am more than thankful.”
“This is uncharted territory for me,” Chaz says, “I’ve never been in a situation where I actually wanted to be sober… I figure if I stay sober today, I can stay sober the rest of my life. And that’s why I’m going to do it every day.”
And he knows that once he leaves Guiding Light, he has more support in the form of two young boys. “It’s amazing to know that [my sons] forgive me because there’s a lot of guys like me who don’t get that same forgiveness. I feel like I’m super blessed.”
