Builders Exchange of West Michigan Donates $24,943 to Guiding Light

On Wednesday, September 30th the Builders Exchange of Michigan met with representatives from Guiding Light, including current clients Tom, Phil, Allen, and Jeremy, to present a donation of proceeds from their recent charity golf outing.

The 64th annual Golf Outing held at Saskatoon Golf Club on August 31st was able to raise a record number of $24,943 to benefit Guiding Light’s Back to Work program. Back to Work provides a short-term stay for men who are homeless and are seeking full-time employment, allowing them to save money while they look for permanent housing. This program is a smart and strong solution for promoting financial independence through work. The proceeds generously raised through Builders Exchange of West Michigan will be put to work right away at Guiding Light, giving men in Grand Rapids a chance to get off the streets and on a payroll again.

At Guiding Light we provide shelter for men experiencing homelessness and access to resources to help them back on their feet. Most importantly, we give men faith and hope for their future and the means to do better. The social philosophy of Guiding Light’s outreach work is to give Grand Rapids men the space and the means to reach their God-given potential and to become self-sufficient, contributing members of their community again.

Over the past five years, the Builders Exchange of West Michigan has raised over $70,000 for Guiding Light, and it is with great humility and gratitude that we accepted on Wednesday their continued generosity. It is through the close partnerships and relations with our neighbors and community members in Grand Rapids that we are all moving forward together into an uncertain, but bright future.

It is great to know that leading and distinguished organizations like Builders Exchange of West Michigan share our vision for making the Grand Rapids community a better place through rescue, recovery, and re-engagement, one man at a time.
