Events designed for non-profit’s neighbors and those directly linked to recovery program.
“Guiding Light has been a part of this area for decades and every year distributes hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to the community,” said Ally Velderman, Guiding Light Director of Community Engagement. “This Thanksgiving meal is one of the ways we continue that commitment to being a good neighbor.”
The community meal takes place Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m. This year, Fifth Third Bank is proud to partner with Guiding Light to provide support for the event.
“Fifth Third Bank is honored to help Guiding Light put on this community meal, which will make the holiday better for hundreds of people,” said Tom Welch, Fifth Third Bank Regional President. “Guiding Light’s history of assisting their neighbors is a perfect match for Fifth Third Bank’s commitment to strengthening our community.”
Over the past decade, Guiding Light has shifted from its roots as a traditional shelter to a program-based organization that walks alongside individuals to fulfill their God-given dignity and potential. The nonprofit’s programs include:
• Recovery – an intensive drug and alcohol treatment program that combines evidence-based practices, life coaches, therapy, support groups, spiritual direction and resources to equip men to build lives worth staying sober for.
• Iron House – a sober-living community and Guiding Light social enterprise that provides a safe and secure environment with continuing support for men who complete the Foundations portion of Recovery.
