This #GivingTuesday We Give Thanks to YOU

By now you’ve probably heard of Giving Tuesday – a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.” You’ve probably seen appeals from non-profits and charitable organizations all over your community asking you to contribute this #GivingTuesday to their cause.

At Guiding Light, for this Giving Tuesday, we want to thank YOU, our donor, for making all we have accomplished this last year possible. Hundreds of men have come through the doors of our Recovery program, hundreds of thousands of meals have been served, and – for the first time in decades – Guiding Light is offering women our life-transforming services.

With the opening of Esther’s and Ruth’s House (named after two of our long-time volunteer spiritual directors) we have opened our doors to two beautiful sober living homes in the Grand Rapids area. This recovery housing offers a safe space, personalized support, and community to build a new life in sobriety, and has already helped dozens of women find long-term success.

Ruth’s House and Esther’s house is just the first step in our plan to open a full-fledged women’s recovery program in 2024, capable of serving the women struggling in our community just as we have the men over all these years. And it is only because of YOU that we have been able to do so. It is only through your steadfast dedication, investment, and charity that Guiding Light continues to be 100% donor-funded, giving men and now women a real chance to achieve life-long recovery.

So this #GivingTuesday, we are not asking for more (although it never hurts), we want to simply acknowledge you, for all that you have done to make our mission possible.
